Christian Formation & Community

Callie HausmanChristian Formation Classes and the Adult Forum resume on Sunday, September 12, at 10:00 a.m. in the nave. Everyone is invited to attend a brief service, including a back to school blessing for children and teachers. Afterwards, the children and youth meet in their class rooms, and adults meet with Father Erdman in Parker Hall for coffee and conversation. Remember to bring a side dish and plan to stay for the Calvary Parish Picnic from noon to 1:30 p.m. Plan to register for classes, meet the faculty, and learn about the programs and events that are offered this fall. Classes are for all ages:

The second part of a series from last fall will be presented by Tessa Long on Hildegard of Bingen on the last two Sundays of September. In October, Father Erdman will present a four-part series on C. S. Lewis’ book The Great Divorce.

Journey with us as we learn of the many people from the Bible, engage in historical exploration of Christianity and the Episcopal faith, enjoy friendships in classes, and create our own responses and stories, all while engaging in the mystery of God in our lives.

Calvary goes to the Bats on Thursday, August 26. We have our traditional shady seats which are under cover. Sign up today to reserve your tickets at only $7.00 per person. This annual tradition is enjoyed by many.

The Calvary Book Club resumes on Tuesday, October 5, at 7:00 p.m. at Calvary. Bring your favorite book from this past summer’s reading, as well as two or three book suggestions for future planning. Join us for good conversation, refreshment, and fellowship.

Calvary’s Youth Group will meet this summer for dinner with Father Jon. We will also enjoy a picnic and swimming at Lakeside Swim Club. If you are interested in participating, please call Callie at the church office for details.

Calvary will begin the third year of Education for Ministry (EfM) on Wednesday, September 15, meeting from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. If you are interested in signing up or finding out more information, please see Callie Hausman or David Webb. We will be engaging in discussions of theology, Old and New Testaments, and church history, while exploring connections between our daily life experiences and the traditions and teachings of our faith. Personal and Professional Development: States of Uniqueness In this career management program you will learn and experience how personal and spiritual growth will support your professional development by defining your “uniqueness” and fully answering your call. Led by Gionatan Surrenti, Experiential Career Counselor (MA, BA) the series will host guest professional speakers. The eight sessions will begin on Tuesday, September 21, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30. The Right Way to Start the Day. The Right Steps to walk your path. See Gionatan Surrenti or Callie Hausman for enrollment information.
