Rector Search Committee: Calvary's Vestry Calls for Volunteers

Calvary Search Committee Call for Volunteers

July 20, 2017

The Calvary Vestry is establishing a Rector Search Committee and is calling for volunteers to serve. The Search Committee will be responsible for developing a profile of Calvary and for screening and interviewing candidates for Rector.  The Search Committee will be responsible for recommending one or more candidates to the Vestry to consider to be called.

If you are interested in serving on the Search Committee, please submit your name to Penny Brisson, Secretary to the Vestry.  Her contact information is or (502) 298-0557.  The deadline is August 7.  The Vestry will select a committee of nine – to represent a mix of ages, gender, length of membership and people who are involved in various ministries at Calvary.

Search Committee members should expect to meet weekly over about a 6-month period, at a time and place to be determined by the Committee. They will select a chair from among themselves.  They must be willing to travel once or twice to visit candidates.

The main work of the Committee is active listening.  You will be asked to be part of a discernment and calling process which is a shared spiritual journey.  You do not need to be a human resources expert.

Desirable characteristics for Search Committee members are:

·        Actively involved in the church as a community of faith

-       Good listeners, able to listen accurately and respectfully to a broad range of opinions

·        Able to maintain confidentiality

·        Team players – with significant emotional maturity

If you have any questions, please contact Meg Scharre, Senior Warden or Don Snow, Junior Warden.
