·
Note changes made by Jim Barnes on page 3. MTD
Budget column replaces YTD Remaining.
·
Pledges are lagging a little bit. We’re about $7,400
off budget.
·
Feb. 2007 is about $6,000 less vs. Feb. 2006. Total
revenues are off about $11,000.
·
Total Expenditures are down a little ($2,000).
·
Budget is approximately $1,100 higher this year than
last.
·
“Sexton Salary” has been added.
·
Accounts 5060 & 5120 titles changed.
·
Morris Belknap asked about how proposed new
computers would be covered. There’s nothing in the budget for this. He
presented some of his thinking about this process.
·
Corky Sachs moved that the report be accepted;
Seconded by Jamie Hendon. Motion carried.
Stewardship:
Larry Frederiksen passed out
copies of meeting minutes from the March 11 Stewardship Committee meeting and
reviewed them.
Next meeting will be April 15th
after the 11:00AM Service.
Worship:
Marsha Webb detailed the Worship

·
Schedule for Holy Week is on front page of the
Calvary Connection.
·

·
Worship
·

the Maundy Thursday service.
·
All services will be held as usual on both Palm
Sunday and Easter Sunday.
Christian Formation:
David Webb noted Callie
Hausman’s report.
Property Committee:
Clyde Warner –
·
The new windows have been installed in the social
hall and kitchen. Clyde recommended that the Vestry should write a letter of
appreciation to Richard & Judy Wilson. David Stewart will draft a letter
and have the Senior Warden sign it for the Vestry.
·
The issues from the Fire Marshall’s visit still
being visited. Nancy Anderson asked if we were under any deadline to conform to
items noted from the Fire Marshall’s visit. Clyde detailed major points of
report. He stated that there is no deadline to complete repairs and changes.
·
Focus on repairing pews is on-going.
·
Next property Committee Meeting an April 15th
@ 12:30PM.
Fr. Morris – Any progress on
leaks in roof?
·
No. It hasn’t been raining to see where the leak
might be.
Outreach:
Nancy Anderson noted the
Outreach report. She also noted how nice the North Entrance looks with the
clothes closet items pared down.
Ginger Ray noted that she has
worked out a way for clothes that Calvary takes to BJ’s Consignment that do not sell to be taken to Mom’s Closet.
·
Noel Booker pointed out Margaret Dickinson’s summary
about the Clothes Closet.
·
Noel read the Mission Statement as it stands now.
Work continues to make it more succinct. This will be presented at the next
Vestry Meeting.
Next Outreach Committee meeting
is April 22nd @ 12:30PM
Communication:
Carrie Frazier noted that the
Calvary Connection deadline is April 18. Next Communication Committee meeting
at April 15th @ 12:30PM.
Morris Belknap needs someone who
has experience with publishing software. He requested names of anyone the
Vestry members knew so that he can get input on the various options available.
Parish Life:
·
Corky Sachs noted that Foyer Groups are “off and
running.”
·
Program Council meeting was held this past week.
Note sign-up sheets in social hall.
·
Peggy Silliman’s fund raiser for April 27 & 28
is progressing nicely. Tickets have just gone on sale. Vestry members need to
support this by buying tickets.
·
Nancy Anderson noted that trying to do food for the
Coffee Hour is very demanding. People are feeling a lot of pressure to put on
larger and larger “spreads” at the coffee hour.
o
She suggested that people start bringing snacks on a
routine basis to develop a “pantry” of available snacks for the Coffee Hour.
o
Ginger Ray suggests pairing people so that one
person doesn’t bear full responsibility.
o
Jamie Hendon suggested having a “big” Coffee Hour
once a month. Several people would put it on so one person doesn’t have all the
responsibility. “2nd Sunday” was recommended. The rest of the time
there will be “cookies & coffee.” Corky Sachs will present this idea to
Susan Baker.
o
Fr. Morris noted how unique it is that people stay
as long as they do following the Service to socialize. This is an important
ministry.
o
Jamie Hendon suggested putting out a collection
plate for donations at the “2nd Sunday” coffee hour.
·
Ginger Ray described ideas that came from the
Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes meeting in FL.
There is no meeting scheduled as
of this time.
Junior Warden:
Noel Booker had no report.
Senior Warden:
Jamie Hendon passed out copies
of the Calvary Mission Statement. He noted that the Vestry needs to have
routine “assessments” of events, the Vestry, the Rector, etc. The idea is to
know what our legacy is. This starts with knowing what our Mission Statement
says. Jamie will bring this up in context at every meeting.
Rector:
Fr. Morris –
·
Ben Sanders will be here on April 15th.
·
The Morris family will be on vacation the week after
Easter.
Old Business:
Jamie Hendon detailed how the
Long Range Planning process has been accelerated.
·
Noel Booker detailed the conference call with a
potential consultant this past Saturday with the Long Range Planning Committee.
The decision was made at that meeting to talk to four (4) other consultants.
The Steering Committee will do a preliminary interview with these consultants
and report to the full Committee.
·
This process has been on-going for a year. More
communication needs to be made so people know what is going on. Not only do we
have things that need to be done; there are also many things that have already
been done.
·
The Steering Committee met last Wednesday on March
21st. As part of the accelerated process, the next Steering
Committee meeting will be on March 28th at 5:00PM.
·
The next Long Range Planning Committee will be on
April 21st from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. All Vestry members are invited.
David Webb presented the flyer
for the Calvary Drama Camp 2007.
Fr. Morris expressed his wish
that all people would come to the Calvary Camp at All Saints in May.
New Business:
Noel Booker noted a workshop on
the characteristics of a vibrant parish at the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal
Parishes meeting in FL. He passed out a list of “Areas, Marks and
Characteristics” that are the hallmarks of “Congregational Strength, Vitality
and Growth.”
Fr. Morris wanted to know if the
Vestry members can be here at 5:00PM at future Vestry meetings. The idea is to
do the Vestry’s business and allow people to get home to their families. Some
members have a problem with getting away from work in time to make a 5:00PM
start. It was agreed that the meetings would continue to begin at 5:15PM and
that the emphasis will be on ending each meeting by 7:00PM.
Carrie Frazier commented on how
nice it is to have the Sexton at the North Entrance.
Announcements:
There were no announcements.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Vestry
is April 24, 2007 @ 5:15 PM. Meeting will be held at Calvary Church with Tom
Fulton officiating Compline.
There
being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:02PM with Compline officiated by Larry
Frederiksen.
Respectfully
submitted,
David L.
Stewart
